The Auckland Festival has come to Auckland (where else) this month, showcasing music and visual arts from New Zealand and around the Pacific. For three weeks in March, every day there are events held throughout town.
Website: http://www.aucklandfestival.co.nz

The photo above (sorry it's a bit blurry!) is from a contemporary act from New Caledonia that we were lucky enough to see perform. Most of the shows cost money, but they let us into this one for free. Last week, Beth and I went to the ballet, which was part of the festival. It was actually much more interesting that I was expecting. Tonight we just got back from seeing The Spaghette Western Orchestra, which was a five piece band performing tunes from Spaghetti Westerns like "A Few Dollars More" and "The Good the Bad and the Ugly." The show was great.

The opening act of the Auckland Festival was Group Ef, which was a really sweet fireworks and pyrotechnics show set to music. Check out their website: http://www.groupef.com.

They are separate things. The lantern festvial was the weekend before the Auckland Festival began, I think. There are things going on all summer pretty much.

Wow, Auckland seems like the happenin' place! Those Kiwis must love a party and being creative. How awesome for you and Beth. I'm glad you liked the ballet. It can be moving and/or mesmerizing. What is a Spaghetti (Spaghette?) Western? I actually really like the "blurry" effect on the photo. Nice mood capturing. XOXOX
