I am here!

We just got back from a long trip to Great Barrier Island. I sent Dad an email about it before we left, I figured you would have read it as well. I was going to post about it before we left but ended up getting too busy.

Anyways, I have LOTS of awesome pictures and will be posting them soon... probably tomorrow.

What a **gorgeous** picture and place! And I like seeing the cliffs and the feel of them. (Can you "see" a "feel"? ;-)) Kind of unusual how the trees grow along the cliffs' edges. How great to be able to "seize the day off" like that and that this place is so near and easily accessible to you. By the way, Jeff Spence said it was -8 degrees at his house (in Howell) this morning. The crunch of the snow is so *very* crunchy that it feels and sounds like the snow could slice the tires. (It wouldn't; it just feels and sounds like it.) And driving home from work at dusk, when half the U.S. was probably already snug in their homes, watching the Super Bowl [how about that first touchdown!], the roads seemed drifty, barren, isolated, and gray and white. Not unlike the tundra! Matt and Kristin's Golf (a nice little VW that runs on diesel) broke down on the way to church. Yikes! Matt thought it was due to the cold. SO, what I'm getting at here in this comment is . . . **enjoy** your warm, sunny, NZ days!!! :-) XOXOX

Beth had an off day so we packed our bags and headed north. We crossed the bridge to north Auckland, and in another 20 minutes were at Long Bay Regional Park and Marine Preserve. There was a long beach, intuitively named Long Bay Beach, that is located behind the shooter of the picture above (me). I have posted lots of pictures of beaches, so I figured I would post one of the cliffs.
