After a shortened stay at Mount Hutt we headed for Christchurch. We caught lunch in town and then drove out to the Banks Peninsula, a large peninsula south west of Christchurch full of winding roads and beautiful bays. It had been raining for several days straight, as you can see in the photo above.

The drive was long and the roads were crazy windy, but we eventually found a nice little impromptu camp site and enjoyed an evening on the peninsula.

Another beautiful scene. Thanks for keeping us updated on your travels. Based on your e-mail, I've been reading in my NZ book about Banks Peninsula and found it on my map.

It was a really nice area. Seemed like it would be a great escape place if you live in Christchurch. It might look close on the map, but the roads were slooooow going.
