There are hundreds of fabulous wineries in the region, but we made it to four before the end of the day. We got to Wither Hill, Cloudy Bay, and I honestly can’t remember the others. The wine was great, as is indicative of the region, and we ended up buying several bottles of wine.

That night we camped along a river just outside of Blenheim, where we cooked up our crayfish and several fish fillets and feasted on the river banks.

In the morning we woke up to find camper vans and other vehicles crowded every twenty meters along the river bank. Apparently this was a great river for whitebaiting, and the whole town had come out to get their catch. We got chatted up by some local fishermen and then spent the morning basking in the sun and listening to the ocean waves.
