On top of Penang Hill there was this old abandoned guesthouse. It looked like it used to be really nice but was abandoned like maybe 5 or 6 years ago. As it was all the floors were sinking and roofs were collasping inside. We had no idea why it was abandoned but it was very creepy, even in the middle of the day. Like a ghost house..

Just thought I would throw that in there :)

Yeah English was very prevalent in Malaysia. I don't have may photos of the historic architecture in Penang. The night we were going to go on a walking tour of that stuff it started pouring rain.

Thanks! Nice! Any pics of the historic architechture? I take it the bus drivers speak English. So maybe it wasn't too hard to figure out what was going on?

I see "The southern part of the island is highly industrialised with high-tech electronics plants (such as Dell, Intel, AMD, Altera, Motorola, Agilent, Hitachi, Osram, Plexus, Bosch and Seagate)"

From KL we took a nice coach bus to Penang, an island off the west coast of northern peninsular Malaysia. We were a bit worried how we were going to get there, but after stepping in the bus station it became very easy. 10 different people were grabbing us and taking us to buy tickets for their bus. Within seconds we had tickets and the next day we were on our way to Penang - about a 5 hour bus ride.

In Penang, or Pulau Penang (Pulau meaning island in Malay), we went up an old railway that takes tourists up to the top of Penang Hill. This photo is of the main city on the island, Georgetown, taken from 800m.
