Looks great! Delicious in fact. Thanks for putting all these up here!! Will you have to cook a whole new way when you get back to the US? Is the rice on the plate in red duck curry #2 really in the shape of a teddy bear, or am I just imagining?

Yes the pancakes are nice. Kindof like normal pancakes, but with honey. Also you can buy them from roadside vendors and they are a bit more crepe-like with whatever toppings folded in.

Yeah I just got the Asia theme up so I’m excited about that. Have wanted to for a while but haven’t had much internet access. The quote is from a black seeds song.

It’s certainly hot .

- sanitary … it’s all relative I guess. The conditions definitely wouldn’t garnish an A sanitation rating in NC, but at the same time most all the food you get is fresh and lots of it is locally produced,organic or with less chemicals etc. So in some ways it seems better.

We haven’t really gotten sick yet aside from one quick incident with Beth on the train. We have learned that if you eat coconut milk dishes more than about once a day you spend a lot of time going back to the hotel to use the toilet.

We only drink bottled water.

- We have been in big cities and fairly touristed areas (relatively), so in those areas everywhere has English on their menu. If we were to go a few kms out of town, we would be hard pressed to even find someone who could speak English, much less see any signs or menus in English.

- Each country has it’s main beer or two that is sold everywhere, then generally you can get one or two “imported” beers (normally Heineken). In Thailand we drank Singha and Chang, and in Laos we are drinking Beer Lao which is very nice.

The first time at the place with the excellent red duck curry- I had vegetable green curry which was equally excellent.. the second time we both had the red duck curry

other good foods were: pad thai, stirfry with cashew nuts, stirfry with sweet basil, and the ubiquitous banana pancakes!

Ok, some questions:

In picture #3, what are the three things on ice?

Is the food pretty sanitary there? Or, like some countries, do you need to be pretty careful?

Do most places have menus in English? If not, do you just go by the pictures? Something else?

Beer? Is it just trial and error? I assume you get beer native to around there?

What did Beth have there?

By request of Dadman, here is a glimpse of the food we have been eating in Thailand. This red duck curry was the best red curry I have ever head. We went back and had it a second time. Food stalls (view from our breakfast table) the day's catch for selection at a food stall more food stall giant tiger prawns red duck curry #2 food stall menu meat vendors (my favorite)
