no. not expensive. that bungalow cost 500 baht, which actually seemed a bit expensive at the time. you can use Google to do conversions. Do a Google search for “500 baht in USD”

Fun to hear all the details of the food and pool! Both sound heavenly!

Dad and I will *have* to eat Thai soon! We’ll take a copy of your post and think of you when ordering! And eating!

Emerald green tile. *Very* cool. A pool overlooking the ocean; swimiing in *that* pool; laying around on chairs and reading with *that* view; a massage room. Like a movie, like a dream, like paradise!

Are you saying we’d be green because it’s so expensive or so (unlike it would be here) inexpensive?

Oh and the pool was green because it was all in emerald green tile. This was the pool at our little resort place we stayed, overlooking the ocean. We certainly did swim in it. And lay around it on chairs reading etc. Oh and the Thai massage room was under the pool. You don’t even want to know what this place cost us per night. You’d be green yourself .

We have been eating a lot. I don’t have any photos. Today for lunch I had what may be the best red curry I have ever head. It was read curry with fried duck from a nick little restaurant in Bangkok (where we are now). I had the best green curry ever in Ko Phangan at a local place. Have had pad thai a few times. I’m not sure how it compares to the pad thai from home, but it was good (never had it at home).

Most of the Thai food here seems pretty similar to what you would expect to get at home if you order a familiar dish. However some places seem able to make it a bit better, maybe having better access to real Thai spices etc.

According to the nice new shiny LP site, Pha-Ngan has the biggest beach parties in the world, especially around the full moon (or half, three quarters etc – actually whenever they can SEE the moon). Good place for a hangover.
Be careful out there you guys – wouldn’t want to miss your ferry or you might be stuck in paradise for a loooong time.

Have you had any pad thai? And is it anything like “ours.” I always come back to that dish at Thai restaurants. Dad usually orders a curry something with meat and veggies. Come on–make us jealous by telling us of your yummiest Thai (and/or Malaysian) food(s). Come to think of it, I’m hungry. Maybe I’ll go eat one of Kristin’s chocolate chip cookies! Tomorrow night, Dad and I should go to Siam Spicy (Thai) in honor of you! Hey, Jules, you out there? Want to join?!? You know you still have that rain check with us, and I still have the cash in an envelope, just waiting! Oh, drat, Jeffers isn’t free tomorrow night. Wednesday? (Before “Idol.” LOL!) Thursday? And the pool is green because . . . ? (Maybe it’s the combination of the reflection of the foliage + that it’s at sunset? Or maybe the bottom of the pool is painted green? Just speculating.) Did you swim in it? Or maybe it’s not meant for swimming? All the same, and all questions aside, it is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. XOXOX
