On a trip around the island known as “The Grand Tour” Dennis took us to Hanson Bay, his favorite beach, for lunch. We sat in the shade and had a nice picnic while watching the water wash in on the calm side of the bay.

Over the ridge in the far side of the photo was the east side of the bay, which was rough with big waves. Pretty cool to have both types of waters next to one another, and a beautiful spot for lunch.

Here is a map of Kangaroo Island. You can see Hanson Bay on the south-west side of the island. Perhaps I should have posted this earlier:

Well, we were looking for jobs, so it was a bit hard to do that without mobile reception and only getting internet once per week. We would have loved to stay longer, but felt we needed to get back if we were going to find work. Good thing I did because I got several calls the day I got back.

Dennis’ home is just south of the point between D’Estrees Bay and Pennington Bay. That area is called Flour Cask Bay but it’s not on this map.

Thanks!
It just looks like such an amazingly beautiful place to be. You’ll never forget your time there! Too bad about the cell reception and internet. But maybe that’s part of the charm of the place.
