I have been wanting (craving? can you crave something you have never had before?) to try kangaroo since we got to Australia. The idea of a meat I have never eaten excites me. While at the wildlife sancturary we were able to select our own baby roo and have it butchered for dinner… okay just kidding. Our house mom got the roo at the store :D .

We cut the steaks into thin slices about 1cm thick, as seen above, and then seared them in the pan. We mixed in some cream and spices making a nice sauce, and served over rice.

The roo meat was really good. I guess it tasted kindof like beef, but very tender and rich. I think that it was a farm raised kangaroo as opposed to a wild one, but I’m not really sure. It isn’t something that is commonly eaten here (as in a daily staple), but it is readily available if you know where to look.

Now you can go to Korea and eat dog! Just kidding! Great pics – you always have such nice color in your shots. It’s easier to picture you eating it by seeing it in the kitchen and in the pan. Thanks fro describing it so well! Mom cooked a pot roast yesterday – and used Australian wine.
