On our second day in Cradle Mountain National Park we decided to trek to the summit of Cradle Mountain. It ended up being about an 8 hour return trip, with the actual summit climb being more of a rock climb than a hike.

I have been meaning to get this post up for some time now, but life has been pretty crazy with finishing up work, packing up our apartment, and getting ready for travel.

Here’s some photos from the climb:

The walk to the summit starts at the beginning of the Overland Track. We walked the first half day or so of the Overland Track. If you recall we also walked some of the final day of the Overland Track previously at Lake St. Claire.

This is the view from an earlier lookout. Originally Beth thought she would only make it this far.

Luckily I convinced her that going up here would be a good idea.

This is what most of the climb was like.

But we made it.

And the view from the top was awesome.

I cannot begin to imagine the endurance that would be required, and the bravery! But, worth it all, I’m sure. The picture of the “pond” or “lake” or whatever it is at the view looks beautiful.

I looked at the EXIF again. Thank you. I didn’t realize until a few days ago (after your posting saying you are including it) that the EXIF is still saved after downloading pics from a camera. I had just figured that once they were downloaded that info couldn’t be accessed any more. So, thank you for helping me realize that.

Yeah the EXIF data should stay with the photo.

WOW! Love the photos! That second one with all its curvature, composition, texture, and feel of the place! The fourth and fifth ones for . . . oh, my gosh, how did you ever manage it?!? The one of you and Beth because it’s YOU and your expressions and your accomplishment! (And that you’re up on that pillar is *very* cool.) And that last one–wow. The contrasts of color, clarity, and intensity between the foreground (rock) and background. And the lines in those rocks! And the angling/positioning of your camera to capture all that. So rich. THANK YOU!
