After Lake St. Clair we drove around to Cradle Mountain National Park, where the Overland Track begins. It was slightly warmer. Cradle Mountain is in the photo. It was named because it looks like there is a baby in the cradle of the mountain. Use your imagination.

I’ve always thought people who named these things had a lot more imagination than I do.

Beautiful. No baby appears for me, but beautiful. Maybe I need to look at it for 10 minutes before it appears.

Josh, thank you for you camera help several months ago. Bill ended up getting me a Canon Rebel XS for Christmas. I’m taking a class on dSLR beginning in April. It is in Iowa State’s “College for Seniors” class offerings. Yikes…I’m doing something that is for senior citizens! Anyway, thank you for your help. Looking at your photos makes me want to learn even more about photography. So far my main little “photo trip” has been to take some photos of hay mow tracking mechanism at the barn where Grandpa Deane grew up. Fun for me but not as fun as the Australia that you bring into my daily life.

Cool Louise. That camera is similar to the one I took. I have recently added a feature to the new photos that will appear on the site that shows the photo EXIF Info, which is metadata about the photo. You can see what settings I used to take the photo. For instance the photo above was taken in AV mode, with 1/320 shutter speed, 200ISO, and f/8. If you don’t know what that means, you will learn in your class for the olds. :)

Oh and about the baby in the cradle… going down to the right from the left-most point, the first bump is meant to be the baby’s head, then it’s hands/stomach, then it’s feet (or something like that)

Comment by Peg — March 12, 2009 @ 2:10 pm

Ya, I kinda thought that might be the “baby’s head,” but . . . wow . . . definitely a stretch. Maybe those early travelers/namers (settlers?) stared at it a long, long time.
Fun to hear about it from you, though.

And fun to see the EXIF Info addition to the site. It’s “Greek” to me, but to anyone with some non-auto photography experience, I would think it’d be really interesting. Cool.

Hey! I think you said Friday is your last day at work? Does that mean *tomorrow* (your time zone) is your last day? How’s it feel? What do you need to get done before you go? Will you miss anyone? Anything? Or maybe that’s not appropriate to talk about on a public blog? Answer at will! XOXOX
