Eating cake is becoming a common theme around here. With Beth working at the bakery we already have sweets coming out of our ears; then I decided to pick up some birthday cheesecake for Bethany. She didn’t seem to mind.

When is Beth’s BD? Yours was this week, too? So you must have had lots of cake. Perhaps Beth’s job will lead to horizontal expansion of your bodies! Not–if you also keep exercising.

Yes! It looks like you guys had a great time for Bethany’s birthday (7/24/81). I had a feeling there would be enough sweets around to make everyone happy. Hopefully you got a few days off, Bethany? Once again, Happy Birthday!

Yes, when is Beth’s birthday? Tell her our wishes for all her birthday wishes to come true! Cheesecake is the preferred birthday cake at our house – especially for Kevin.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BETH!!! From sunny Rolfe, Iowa! :-) I’m at the library here. Headed to eat lunch with Grandpa Deane at Ropa’s (across the street) at 12:05, his standard meeting time. Not sure if Uncle Charles (next door) will be there, since it’s a Saturday, though he usually is on weekdays. Headed out of town late afternoon. Headed to MI on Monday. Will arrive there early Tuesday evening. Your “Orangeness” photo was, as you said, nearly unbelievable. I’m so glad you got to see it with human eyes (and neck :-) )! And the photo of Beth is FUN!!! HAPPY CELEBRATING! XOXOXOX

Glad you had a fun birthday!! Looks like you have your cake and are eating it too. Did you guys do anything special? Or maybe you didn’t feel like doing anything else after eating all that cake.

We went to eat sushi with a friend of ours at this place Beth and I like. It was good.

I need to post a new photo, but I don’t have any good ones at the moment. It’s cold and rainy out, and it’s always dark.

What do you mean by “it’s always dark”? Like . . . as in Alaska is always dark some times of the year?

Comment by josh — August 2, 2008 @ 9:20 am

Well it’s dark by the time I get home from work… so to me it pretty much always seems dark.

In other words, it’s dark when you want to have fun. It’s kind of like winter here. By the time I get home from work, it’s too dark to walk outdoors so I walk on my treadmill instead. Instead of fun outdoors, fun has to be indoors.

Comment by Peg — August 2, 2008 @ 1:24 pm

Ahhhh, I get it. Thanks!

Comment by dadman — August 2, 2008 @ 9:13 pm

Did you buy a treadmill? You could post a picture of it!

Comment by josh — August 3, 2008 @ 7:37 pm

No I didn’t buy a treadmill, lol. And yes lots of good fun indoors during the winter. Have been reading a lot. Finished a book about Melbourne’s underworld (there seems to be a lot of that) and am now reading the newest King book, Duma Key. It is really good so far. Beth got me both of those for my birthday.

Also bottled our Oatmeal Stout last weekend and just brewed a red ale today.
