Despite it being summer now, we’ve got some nasty raining sideways weather in Melbourne. So I dug into the archives and found this picture of a blowfish washed up on the beach. Actually blowfish probably isn’t the correct name, but I don’t know what is.

In other news, here’s a couple interesting articles about some astounding fraud cases going on:

LA Hopital CEO rounds up homeless people to get government money

Former NASDAQ chairman arrested by FBI over 50 billion dollar Ponzi scheme

and I quote: “we’re hearing that the smart money KNEW Bernie had to be cheating, because the returns he was generating were impossibly good. Many Wall Streeters suspected the wrong rigged game, though: They thought it was insider trading, not a Ponzi scheme. And here’s the best part: That’s why they invested with him.”

So THAT’S where my 50 billion went!
Good quote! At least when the government is running everything there won’t be any problems.

Nice blowfish. They are pretty good eating, aren’t they? With all those spines, I wonder what it is. Some fish person should know. Adam?

Just googled “Ponzi scheme” and had an interesting read. Had never heard of it before. Is that one of those “culturally literate” phrases everyone should know? Fun to see what kinds of articles catch your eye. What trail led you to them? Love the new photo! Awesome colors and textures! XOXOX

I wouldn’t expect everyone to know what that means. I found the articles while reading news on *the internet* :)

Never heard of anyone eating blowfish… that one probably wouldn’t be too good as it has been dead for a while.

Wikipedia says:
Puffer Fish are the second most poisonous vertebrate in the world, the first being a Golden Poison Frog. The skin and certain internal organs of many Tetraodontidae are highly toxic to humans, but nevertheless the meat of some species is considered a delicacy in both Japan (as fugu) and Korea (as bok-uh). If one is caught while fishing, it is recommended that thick gloves are worn to avoid poisoning and getting bitten when removing the hook.

And the reflections in the water. So much going on . . . in such subtle ways. What a capture. XOXOX

Hey guys, it is here…
http://www.fishbase.org/summary/speciessummary.php?id=12864
Check out the range: “Indo-Pacific: Southern Australia from central New South Wales to a similar latitude in Western Australia”

By the way it is also known as a porcupine fish, similar to the one we saw in Jamaica.

“Poisonous to eat,” eh? En garde! Interesting reference, Adam. Thanks!
