You asked for some photos of where we are living, so here you have it – our cellblock by the sea :) . Hehe no it’s not that bad. We are on the upstairs with a balcony, and if we look at the right angle we can see a bit of Melbourne’s Phillip Bay. It is lovely to hear the waves from the houses when we open the windoes. We are about 30 minutes south of the city via train and about an eight minute walk to the train station.

Here you are looking into our living room. There are two bedrooms (behind the photo and to the right of the photo, a kitchen and a bathroom. Very exciting.

clifftop walk

Perhaps the nicest feature of our dwelling is the cliff and beach out front. Just accross the street you get stairs leading down to the beach and then a sidewalk running for miles in either direction. Above is the clifftop walk which also goes in both directions, but overlooking the beach. The photo above was taken last night from the clifftop trail, walking off a big Easter dinner. There are loads of picnick tables and bbqs along the walk, which make great places to stop and watch the sun set, an amazingly different scene every night.

Wow! Now you’re talking! We love to see how and where you’re living and what you’re experiencing. You’re getting pretty used to living by the ocean. How great to open the windows and hear the waves. And to just go out and walk along the beach. Enjoy it!

This is absolutely beautiful and wonderful! Just the idea of being able to see the bay and then walk along the beach at any time is amazing. Does this face west so that what we’re seeing is a sunset?

Your apartment seems nice and comfortable, as well as being very functional. You were fortunate to find a place like this. You have good public transportation. Walking to the train station reminds me of doing that when I was in grad school in Cleveland. You’ve said before how far you (and Beth?) are from work and how you get there. I can’t remember what you said and am too lazy to find the post that explained.

Thanks for posting these photos.

Hey Josh…nice place. I love that you are so near the ocean. I’m sure you love it too. You take great pictures. Ever think of painting? I’m reading Stephen King’s new book. Your photo of the beach reminded me of it. ooooooh…scary. Nice lamp in the living room. Love it. It’s so fun to explore Australia through your camera lense. Thanks for faithfully posting. It is so great to stay in touch with you.

Clara,
Our balcony faces south east, but basically looks out onto other apartments. Our front door looks north-west. Generally we take a walk to some nearby picnic tables to see the sun set.

I take the train to work. It is about 5-10 minutes on the train.

Hey Julee,
I enjoy painting, but I’m not very good at it. You are reading Duma Key? I have heard it is meant to be good. I am reading Black House and it’s okay. Maybe just taking a while to get into.

Hey looks like a pretty sweet setup. Are you taking your daily swim in the ocean or is it starting to cool down there?

Comment by josh — March 26, 2008 @ 11:09 am

It’s cooling down a lot, and it has been raining heavily the last two days. The high temp for today is meant to be 13C (~55F). Pretty crazy considering it was >100 a week ago.
