After a couple of nights in Napier, it is on to Wellington. This was the longest stretch of driving we will have to do on this trip in one sitting (~330km). Luckily the most of it was through flat land and rolling hills.
We drove Highway 2 to 57/56, stopping in Palmerston North for lunch, and then across the island to Highway 1 down to Wellington. The scenery was really nice, with different leaves changing color the further we get south.
In general, the highways are two lanes like in the photo above. Going up hills there will sometimes be a passing lane for vehicles to pass me.
