We decided to spend our final three nights in the South Island in Marlborough Sounds. We drove for what seemed like ages on windy roads the first night and stayed at a camp site deep in the sounds, then made our way back over the next couple of days.

It mostly rained the first two days. We spent most of our time hanging out in the van reading and relaxing. The third day we were treated to the sun and at least half of a beautiful day – it rained some that afternoon.

We got to walk some of the Queen Charlotte Track, which is one of New Zealand’s Great Walks. Beth and I had been wanting to do the whole walk, but alas we had run out of time. We walked to a hilltop look out where we took the photo above. On one side (in photo) we could see Kenepuru Sound, and on the other side was Queen Charlotte Sound. These are two of several sounds making up the Marlborough Sounds.

Dad, here is a closeup of the yellow flowers for you to try your IDing skill.

Wow, what a difference! I’m looking at these photos on Louise’s laptop (in IA). And I thought they looked awesome before! The colors are intense and gorgeous. And the computer has nothing to do with this aspect, but your subject matter and composition are breathtaking. I love the flower close-up. And my favorite photo on the last (?) was, like yours, the sheep. Baaaaaa! :-) Rich! BTW, I saw Abby for just a bit today, and she said she was so jealous of you being there. I imagine you remember she was in NZ and Australia for six or so weeks a few years back. Ya, Dad and I were just saying yesterday that you two are now, on this leg of your travels, on what sounds like one, long, non-stop, delicious vacation. Way to make it happen! If I didn’t like Dad and home so much, you can bet I’d be eating my heart out!!!!!!!! :-) XOXOXOX

So the photos look better on Louise’s computer than on yours?
