It’s beginning to look a lot like… Independence Day???

So maybe I am getting around to posting this a little late. Oh well. Beth and I had our first ever white 4th of July the other day. We spent the majority of it snowboarding. I probably wont be able to say too often!

We didn’t bring the camera snowboarding, so this a photo of a bench near our house will have to do.

Sounds like fun, but were there any fireworks?? So is the temperature in the 30s F most of the time, hovering around 0 C? I much prefer the 80s here. (You’d wish you were here – we went to Greenfield Village for a bit yesterday!) Mom and I had a great fireworks show from right in our front yard! Some of the neighbors spent a lot of money. And we didn’t have to fight traffic – just walk back in the front door when it was over. Perfect!

Does NZ have some national day similar to the 4th?

And how close to your place is that bench? Right outside? Can you see it from your place or is it a short walk?

Glad you haven’t broken anything snowboarding. Bumps and bruises and sprains?

Beautiful. It looks so refreshing.

Fun, fun! I went skiing at Cardona(?) when I was there. I was a wimp…it took me an hour to get down the mountain. I did that twice and decided that it was just a little bit different from the man-made skiing area at Mankato. :)
So, Beth is working at the cinema…where are you working? Maybe I haven’t read enough of the blog. Sounds like you’re having a great time.

Nope, no fireworks here for the 4th of July, although we had them a week or two ago for the opening of the Winter Festival. The weather has been near 0, with highs a bit over and lows a bit below in general. I had to take my acuweather thing off the website because it wasn’t loading and causing problems. Maybe I can find another one that will work.

The bench is real close to here. I can’t see it from the house, but it is right around the corner. And no we haven’t had any injuries yet, thankfully.

As far as holidays, every region has it’s own day (remember Auckland Day?). There is Waitangi Day (when the Waitangi Treaty was signed) and the Queen’s Birthday.

Abby, good to hear from you. That is so funny you were in New Zealand, and for some reason I didn’t even realize it until after I was here. I guess I was rather oblivious at the time. We haven’t been to Cardrona, as our season pass isn’t good there, but it is about 45 minutes from here towards Wanaka.

I am currently self-employed as a contract web developer. I rather like it, and don’t think I’m going to ever want to go back to the 9-5 (or more often, 9-7).

Tell Jack hello for me.

I bet you are very excited for Jon to be arriving! Less than a week away! I will miss him, but know that you’ll take good care of him. If you get a chance…hop on MySpace and check out our pictures from the Tigers game…we got our pictures taken with some of the players!

Yeah we can’t wait for Jon to get here. I saw your Tigers pictures, those are sweet.
