I haven’t posted much in the past few days because we have been pretty busy. We have been boarding as much as possible, and taking care of other stuff when we can. Coronet Peak is a twenty minute drive from town, with most of it at a steep incline. We are learning the road well, and the van is getting used to the uphills.

The photo above is the view from the mountain back into town. You can see the road in the bottom right corner of the photo. Near the middle of the photo, you can see a bit of Queenstown on the lake between the mountain peaks.

so are you finding a “permanent” place to live? Staying at a hostel? How about some pictures of you boarding?

My book says these mountains are called “The Remarkables.” That’s probably because they are remarkable. This is the first NZ picture you’ve posted where there’s not much greenery. I suppose that’s because it’s winter. Or perhaps you’re above the tree line. I’m glad your red van is holding out for it mountain driving. Enjoy the snowboarding.

There will be plenty of time for boarding pictures. We don’t have any good ones yet, but will take some. We are staying at a backpacker/hostel now but looking for a permanent place. They are tough to find.

I’m not sure which mountains are called The Remarkables. I know that south of town is the other ski field and the name of the ski field is The Remarkables. I guess that could be the name of the mountain chain.

I found out that yes, the mountain chain is The Remarkables. The ski field is named after them.
