You were right Dad, I have been pretty bad about keeping things updated. I guess I figure once you’ve seen a couple pictures of mountains and a lake, you’ve seen them all :) . Have been snowboarding a lot, but really I just haven’t been taking that many photos. I should get on it.

Jon should be in the air over a big ocean right now. Can’t wait to see him!

If this is the view from your doorstep, I’d never want to leave. Beautiful!

No kidding! That’s a pretty nice view from home. Wow! What are the temperatures there? the plant on the left looks sort of tropical, but it can’t be that warm. Are you getting really good at snowboarding by now?

Wow–I agree! Pretty inspiring to see out your front door, with a cup of java in your hand and warm sox on your feet. They live up to their name! But . . . oh my . . . I think they’d be scary to be on top of with a snowboard! And the only way down is . . . down! But, then, I thought that at Vail on regular skis . . . . ;-) Great to hear from you! Jon should be landing in Auckland in a couple hours. I’m excited for both of you! All three of you! XOXOX

I’m not sure if I would say I am really good at boarding. Definitely improving every day though.

Hey Josh!! Glad you’re having such a good time. Funny to think of it being winter there. Love your pictures — it lookks like a cool place. Love you and hope you have a good birthday. Hopefully Jon will be with you to celebrate! Love to you.

Beautiful picture! Hal and I have been reading at the cottage. Occasionally I come to the Milford library and check e-mail. I won’t check again until we get home. We rarely have television on up here, but last week I caught a news clip (probably on CNN or The Weather Channel) that mentioned either a flood or fire in Hawkes Bay. I recognized the name because of you.

Thanks for the happy birthdays. We are getting ready to head out snowboarding. Pretty fun to be in the snow on my birthday. Being warm at the cottage is a really strange thing to think about with the freezing temps here. Hope everyone enjoys the day.

WHERE IN THE WORLD ARE JON AND JOSH??!?? We thought we’d hear from you by now, but alas! Dad and I are about to get in the car and make our own trek . . . to Iowa. We probably won’t be checking email til . . . Sunday? Monday? And, of course, we can’t reach each other (very easily that I know of) by phone. So . . . here’s to happy, safe, fun, memorable travels for all four of us! TTYS! XOXOXOX

Jon arrived safe and sound. Right after he got in, we went out and ate a big birthday steak, and watched New Zealand beat Australia in rugby to win the Tri Nations. It was a good first night with Jon. Have safe travels to Iowa.
